beautiful belt but a little too wide for me, I feel you need a very small waist to wear this & be tall for this to look right it's not for short waisted people.

I ordered the Brighton Belt in spite of the reviews that said it stinks....I figured you must have done something about that, so it was worth the risk. I just want to say that the belt is PERFECT. No smell. Extraordinary fashion, great look.

I have to blame myself for ordering this belt after I read the only other review. I thought that maybe she was picky or something. But unless I got the exact belt that went out to her, then she was absolutley right on with the horrible odor. You could smell it right out of the plastic bag that it came in. I don't even want to tell you what it smelt like. Anyway, I got the entire outfit that it went with, so I ordered another one, still hoping that the next one doesn't smell like that, or it will for sure be going back! I hope if it does that soft surroundings will not carry this belt any longer. I will write back and review again if my next one doesn't smell that way.

Nice belt but...

When I first received this belt, I thought it was very nice and I really liked the way it looked on me. I then hung it in my closet and thought nothing of it. However after one week, I noticed a "not-so-nice" odor in my closet. I realized that the odor was coming from this belt! I did not notice the odor when I first got it but I proceeded to wash every single article of clothing in my closet and sent the rest to the cleaners to be dry cleaned. I also cleaned my closet twice! Thank goodness the smell went away as soon as I took the belt out.
I took the belt to the cleaners thinking they could somehow get rid of the smell - they told me they cannot. I hung it outside for two weeks to see if the smell would fade - did not work. Put it in a plastic bag with a fabric softener for one week to see if it will get rid of the smell - all to no avail. Alas, I had to return it. I did not choose to get an exchange because there really is no guarantee that the next belt will not have the same smell.
Now, I have bought many leather articles of clothing in the past and I absolutely love the smell of leather but there was something very wrong with the smell of this belt. I think something went wrong during the tanning process that made this belt smell the way it did. Unfortunately I had to return it.
Soft Surroundings was very gracious and helpful though trying to give me tips on how to get rid of this smell because I really liked the belt but I had to send it back - I got a refund though! I will still order products from this company. This was the only item I bought that I was disappointed with.
